The most enigmatic and charismatic player in the European coffee scene returns to Prufrock on December the 2nd. This event will be a chance for him to explain in detail what we have all been wondering this year. What is he doing. Is he working for Klaus Thompsen? Has he taken up full time pro-boxing? We can confirm as many of you have suspected he has indeed established a roastery in Copenhagen called April. What a beautiful name and as you would expect the branding is superbly designed and the vision is to create what he terms a user-friendly roastery.
Patrick come to us at the end of 2015 and presented what he hoped would be a way of drawing a line under all his activities in that year, Multiple talks across the continent notabley at Colab in Paris and the Prague Coffee Festival, second place in the Coffee Masters London…but at the end of 2016 he plans to do the say but this time, more of a genesis as he begins to canvas for collaborators in the Loring HQ based April Roastery.
Here’s what he says on the subject: The “next wave” in terms of roasted coffee will be, Tasty User-Friendly coffee. There is no way around that. If we want to win over more consumers to Specialty Coffee we need to not only go for the “best possible cup of coffee” but also “best possible cup of coffee, that is more user-friendly than what we do today”.
It is not about compromising on taste. But, to in our quality control system incorporate a process that tests how easy a coffee is to use – regardless if it is roasted beans, capsules, filter or espresso. Communication, format, and consistency.
There is no reason why delicious coffee can’t be easy to use.
Looking forward to seeing you there. At this event there will also be a prologue, as he plans to host a cupping of the April selection before the talk. Look forward to seeing you there. Jem
