Four years ago, Ricardo took the plunge into speciality coffee with his family farm, La Lomita. Raul, Ricardo’s father, entrusted him to look into speciality coffee in the hopes of bringing a needed value over the commodity offering. In London, we are often shown polished final pieces of coffee that are complimented with images that show the great equipment and troubleshooting in which coffee farmers engage with. What we often miss in the conversation is where these progresses at the farm level began.
Ricardo will be presenting on his experience of turning La Lomita’s coffee crop into high quality speciality coffee as well as the difficulties, experiments, and successes. To bring this conversation into context we will be cupping coffee from La Lomita and as coffee from wider Colombia.
